Hi and welcome to my first update as a student pilot, my new name well pilot name is “BEV” a short 3 letter version of my last name. Enjoy the read.
This first week of school has passed so fast and I have learned so much already. A lot of new terms and theory on how the industry and aircrafts work. I’ve already flown 2 lessons. Unfortunately there was bad weather so didn’t get to fly my 3rd lesson yet, but have a new slot on monday, super excited for that. Very flexible hours is definitely what you need for this education, all from classes to flights can be scheduled/rescheduled until 4pm the day before. Regardless of the chance of a flight being cancelled you still have to prepare a full briefing before meeting with your flight instructor, which I think is the absolute best. I love planning and doing pre-checks on the aircraft just to sink it all in. Also having the discipline waking up at 5:30am to get ready to go to the briefingroom 2 hours before the flight instructor arrives at 8am to prep.
Can’t wait to get som pictures of me commandeering the plane to show. For the time being it will just have to be a written explanation. The feeling on takeoff is like nothing else, very satisfying to get up in the air and just enjoying the beautiful scenery. All from the planning to taxi to takeoff to landing is nothing but enjoyment. I don’t even feel like it’s school not even the classes, since it is what I want to do for the rest of my life. For the first time, the things I learn I actually remember. Next week we start classes for radio to get our first certificate, other than that currently we are learning about how the aircraft is built up and how it behaves in different situations. Very eager to learn about everything. There is so much material and these first 2 months are definitely going to be the hardest. Mostly because we are kind of learning everything at once.
Received some books and still missing over half, but will be handed out when it’s time to use them.
Got myself some nice gear as well, if you are going to do it DO IT RIGHT! right? A nice noise cancelling headset (a prop aircraft is kind of loud) and a nice flight bag.
Also moved out to the school in a kind of dormitory for students of the flight school. Already met so many great people. Here are some pictures of my room. Pretty much everything I own, trying to stay clutter free.
So far so good, till next time.
BEV, over and out.
