Hi everyone, welcome back to another update!
Sorry for no post last week, been mainly having classes and no flights. Here is an update and some info as to what is going to happen in the very near future.
This past tuesday I got my first certificate namely the “Flight radiotelephone operator’s certificate” which gives me the right to communicate with air traffic control.
Yesterday I flew my 10th flight which included being in the landing circuit of Roskilde Airport (EKRK). This flight was to practice engine fires and failures and land safely without the use of power. A fun exercise and definitely one needed to be practiced. Even though it is rare that an engine fire/failure occurs you need to be ready to take action in an immediate but calm manner. Learning and remembering the emergency checklist items by heart has been a fun challenge. On another note this was also the last flight before i go on my first solo circuit. Everything up till now has been an incredible and exciting journey and I cannot wait for it to continue into an even bigger experience than it already has been.
On tuesday I am scheduled for the flight where I will be doing my first takeoff and landing without and instructor by my side. The only thing that can stop me is if the weather conditions don’t hold up, so I’m crossing my fingers. The first part is around 1 hour with the instructor being in the circuit and doing some final touch and go’s (landing followed by an immediate takeoff) some more simulated engine failures and final pre-solo check. Then we get to the “easy part” right? Taking full control of an aircraft as pilot in command without an instructor by my side. It is going to be a huge step moving forward and definitely one of the biggest moments in my life. CAN’T WAIT!
Other than that the next couple of exams are not far out. Monday will be the second exam and others will follow in the next couple of weeks.
Thank you for tuning in.
BEV, over and out.
